Web 2.0
Web 2.0 is not another version of the internet, it is just a different generation of the internet and used in a very different way compared to the way it was used many years ago. The main point that makes web 2.0 is the users. Users can share their information online to a range of different users all over the world. Users of Web 2.0 can contact. Communicate with each other. The main way that creates web 2.0 is the opinion and knowledge of the users, for example a topic can be explained by a user for other users to look at and learn. Websites like wiki, blogs, YouTube, Facebook are fine examples of websites that create web 2.0. Wiki was created to be an online encyclopaedia but the information was added by the users to help out others. Anyone can write an article and get it posted on the website.
Cloud computing
This was a very popular idea that was introduced with Web 2.0 .This uses a web server for the user’s computer machine to be completely backed up on a cloud; the website will be able to back up user’s applications, images documents and personal data. This is a good idea because if your computer is damaged or becomes corrupt you can access and retrieve all you r files, also you will be able to gain access to your files all over the world also you can view them online or download them to your new machine. This can be really useful to users that travel abroad a lot. A secure internet connection is needed for you to retrieve your files safely and fast.
Online applications
Online applications are the same applications that you would normally have to save on your computer to use them but you are able to use them online this is an advantage because you can use the application anywhere you are but with a secure internet connection, also it does not take up space on your computer. There are many different online applications for example The Microsoft office package is available online.
Advantages and Disadvantages
The advantages of using Web 2.0 is that you don’t have to put a lot of effort into making a website for example a Wikipedia.com is created by other users input this means that the users that send their information in are actually the ones that are creating the website. Also on other websites such a blogs and forums it gives users to be able to share their own opinion this makes the information not bias and fair for everybody to read. Also if a user is able to put their own information in and know it is not bias then they will visit the website more often. A big advantage of web 2.0 is that information can be shared easy and fast to other users all over the world.
The disadvantages of Web 2.0 is that wrong information can sometimes be added into blogs forums and wikis this will mean that it is posted up for people to see and if someone is viewing the site to discover and find out information it could lead to the user to learn incorrect information. Web 2.0 is a big part of different users life so if one day the websites fail and isn’t available on the internet some users will be lost because they rely on these websites. A very big disadvantage of Web 2.0 is Virus’s this is because when using Web 2.0 you are able to share information and files very easily some users create viruses to attack other web 2.0 users.
